A Special Thanks from Project40Seven and the Leiston Pantry

It was a pleasure to support Project40Seven’s pantry with the urgent replacement of their freezer. Over forty families from Aldeburgh depend on the pantry, and we are hopeful that we will soon be able to offer this vital service here in the town.

Below is the letter we received from Project 40Seven:

“The team at Creative Leiston C.I.C., who operate Project40Seven and the Leiston Pantry, would like to extend our profound gratitude to Aldeburgh United Charities for their support in providing funds to secure a replacement freezer for the Pantry.

Due to an unexpected mains issue with our power supply, the need to replace the unit became significantly more urgent. Thanks to the swift processing and decision regarding our request, you were instrumental in ensuring we could continue providing essential support to all of our communities.

We are proud to serve the residents of Aldeburgh with our facilities and hope to expand our services in the future. We would be more than happy to work alongside Aldeburgh United Charities in achieving shared goals.”

Together, we’re making a positive difference, one act of kindness at a time.”

The new team have relaunched the Charity on the 1st July 2024 looking to help even more as our motto is:
“Here to help”
Aldeburgh United Charities is an organisation based in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, UK. It is a registered charity that aims to provide support and assistance to the residents of Aldeburgh who are in need, hardship, or distress. As a charity we typically offer various forms of assistance, such as financial aid, housing support, or grants for educational purposes. Our primary focus is on helping individuals and families within the local community who require assistance due to financial difficulties or other challenges they may be facing.

What do we do?

The Aldeburgh United Charities have played a vital role in improving the lives of many individuals and contributing to the overall well-being of the community. They continue to be an important pillar of support and a testament to the generosity and compassion of the people of Aldeburgh.

  • So far this year we have been able to help families experiencing poverty at Christmas to have a better time, donating £2000 in food vouchers.
  • We’ve also supported the primary school through financial help to students attending extracurricular activities to enhance their education experiences.
  • We’ve supported many families who through no fault of their own found themselves temporarily going through tough times.
  • Aldeburgh United Charities are committed to the local playgroup and supporting their activities.

We have lots more to do!

Aspirations & Projects

We have many ideas and aspirations, top of the list is to set up a food pantry for the town,

  • We’d like to supply food and groceries to those who have found times tough in the financial crisis.
  • In addition, we’d like to help with cookery demonstrations and supply slow cookers and air fryers to help with energy costs.
  • We are working with other local services to achieve this.
  • We would also like to help with mentoring of the young using our many contacts to make the best of themselves and give a leg up with the experience of the many talented people of Aldeburgh.
  • If we receive anything we cannot help with we will do our best to direct them to an agency or group that might be able to.

Fundraising Events

We are currently getting great support from the Aldeburgh Carnival, Aldeburgh Triathlon and the Aldeburgh Boxing Day swim.
The business community has really been very supportive too as you can see from the various logos at the bottom of the page. Their social commitment to the town has been amazing and we thank them all for their generosity.
The team are lining up events for next year including golf days, quizzes, art exhibitions, summer concert on the kings field (subject to permissions etc)

We are talking to many other groups to collaborate on projects.

Grants & Sponsorship

We are very fortunate to have a small team who decide the awards. They have been picked for their skills in their work lives, experience and character. They remain anonymous to protect them from any undue influences or harassment.

The awards are made to help and with basic needs, distress, unseen events and to help folk back on their feet. We also make awards for education which is part of our charter.

Volunteer & Help Support

We are always looking for anyone who can give a few hours to help with the food pantry and the events we put on. if you think you can help, please email the chair on the email in the info button.

You will be made very welcome and hopefully enjoy the experience.
